In a new report by Capital Economics it has been shown that the Liverpool City Region is the best in the UK for the improvement in its productivity per head of population, measured by output per hour worked.

Liverpool launches Local Impact Fund

The very first UK Local Impact Fund has been launched and it has been launched right here in Liverpool.

At an event attended by the Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd and the Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, Liverpool City Region received £2m worth of funding which will be offering business support and simple finance to local charities and social enterprises, providing unsecured loans enabling them to grow and scale-up the impact they make in their communities.

Loans of £50,000 to £250,000 for up to five years will be on offer to eligible businesses.

The 20 Effect slows down traffic and speeds up business in Liverpool

The 20 Effect is a current initiative run by Liverpool City Council in partnership with Merseyside Police and the Fire Service, which is putting the plight to reduce all speeds limits on residential road to a maximum of 20mph into action.

The campaign was launched in May last year but last week saw the completion of the first phase of The 20 Effect sinage, as 20mph signs were erected around Liverpool's idyllic Faulkner Square, which lies just off Hope Street in between the city's two iconic cathedrals.
