YBE new member Wendy McDowall of Random Teens Ltd proves you have to be in it to win it.
Chinese New Year celebrations had taken place all over the city on Sunday with at least 25,000 people packed into Liverpool to help celebrate. Dragons including a Water Dragon over 30 metres long weaved around Chinatown, and as firecrackers exploded the Dragons ate Cabbage pinned over doorways. A traditional and very enjoyable ritual.
Sunday night saw the celebrations continue in style with a dinner at the Adelphi attended by over 300 guests, including the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Frank
Prendergast and the Consul General of the Peoples Republic of China in Manchester, Mr Pan Yundong.
The evening opened with a bang with an amazing display of the Lion, Dragon and Unicorn Dances. The evening featured performances from The Chinese Youth Orchestra, Wah Sing, The Confucius Institute and Wirral Chinese Association performance by Cici on Chinese Harp amongst many more.
The event was well supported by Chinese and Liverpool businesses and the Grand Raffle Prize of two return flights to Hong Kong was won by Wendy.
Wendy was stunned: “This is an amazing prize and the thrill of a lifetime. I attended the evening in the hope that I could work closely with the Chinese community and develop
local business relations. Thank you to all the people involved in organising the evening!”
Wendy owns www.randomteens.co.uk – a website selling random gifts for teenagers. Her sights are set on doing more business in and with the Chinese community so the prize is a commercial and personal bonus. Congratulations!
