Richard McCann is an inspirational speaker from an unusual background. At the age of 5 he woke up to discover that his mother was gone. She was the first victim of the notorious Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe. He has gone on to do amazing things and created a successful business. He has asked for help - something that, coming from him, is unusual in itself. His email read:
"Hi Cath,This is the very first time that I have asked all on my database for some help. It's not to market a product, it's not to market an event and it's not going to cost you any more than a few seconds of your time.
I was informed yesterday that a T-Shirt manufacturer has produced a 'humorous' t-shirt about Yorkshire with cartoon characters of the great and good of Yorkshire on it, including that of the Yorkshire Ripper.
I was upset and astonished to discover this, but then today at 12.15 on Radio Leeds someone from TOT T-shirts in London was interviewed and his comments were absolutely disgusting.
The one thing he said that hurt me so much was that he doesn't think that the women who died will be that bothered!!!!!!
I immediately called Peter Joyce and pleaded with him to reconsider producing the t-shirt and after I explained how it has affected me and my family and continues to do so he did say that he might think about it. I am not holding my breath, but if he received a number of emails from members of the public requesting the same, maybe it might sway things for me and the other people affected.
So all I ask is that you send an email to sales@totshirts.co.uk FAO Peter Joyce requesting this distasteful t-shirt be taken off the market, or words to that effect, then maybe between us we might prick his conscious and claim a victory for the common man.
Thanks in advance.
Richard"
Well it is up to you. I think it something worth bothering to do. What do you think?
