World Expo Shanghai 2010 has spurred the region’s businesses to expand into China. A new report, commissioned by Liverpool Vision, has highlighted that the global event:
• Successfully acted as a powerful catalyst for businesses in terms of considering trading in China with more than 40% of businesses surveyed said that they hadn’t considered this expanding into China prior to their involvement in World Expo 2010.
• Since the EXPO, 25% of sponsors reported investing in new staff and resource specifically to develop their activities in China.
• Businesses new to trading in China have estimated they have won contracts totalling more than £3.5m over the last 12 months with Expo sponsors also securing sales with China of more than £3m.
