Yesterday Liverpool City Council gave permission to property developers, Jamworks Ltd, to convert the city’s historic Bridewell Jail.

Smaller Earth release data showing 23% revenue increase

Liverpool based, Smaller Earth have revealed an increase of 23% in revenue in 2013.

The company, which specialises in youth work placements abroad and adventure holidays, increased turnover from £5.2m to £6.5.

The company’s brands consist of Camp Leaders and Smaller Earth. The former specialises in Camp America style packages, providing work summer placements in a range of camps across the US. Smaller Earth, on the other hand focuses more on global work and voluntary opportunities.

Plans are in place for Liverpool’s first drive-in cinema

Developers have submitted plans to the council to open a drive-in cinema in Liverpool.

According to the filed papers, a vacant plot on King’s Dock Street in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle will host the city’s first drive-in cinema.

The plans outline the largest cinema screen in Merseyside, space for 78 cars at a time, and various small shacks lining the area providing food and drink for the cinema goers.

Liverpool schools continue their top performance

The 2012/13 report from Sir Michael Wilshaw, Her Chief Majesty’s Inspector of Schools (HMCI), has stated that 84% of the 122 primary schools and 82% of the 29 secondary schools in the city were classed as good or outstanding.

North West showing largest rise in exports in the UK

Figures released from HM Revenue & Custom show the North West has seen an increase in 0.9% in exporters in the year finishing September 2013. This increase has placed the North West as the fastest growing exporter region in the country, beating London.

Furthermore it is one of four regions to show an increase in the country along with London, the North East, and the East Midlands.
